Rooney. Malouda. Zlatan. Cristiano. All will bring their talents to Ukraine and Poland in less than 100 days for EURO 2012. Artist Simon Evans sent us these brilliant “illustrated postcards” that he created as part of a larger project for Goals 5-a-side Soccer Centres. A rare gent indeed...
Character Illustration & Simple Flash Invite 2011
My mate’s wife approached me to tackle his 30th invitation. I decided that Sinan’s ‘Arabic country gent’ look was the perfect focus for the invite and set about drawing a caricature of the man. I then inked it up and recreated it in Illustrator, before adding the final touches and simple flash animation. The full process can be viewed below, and the final invite can be viewed at www.sureboss.com/sinaninvite.
A most feared beard

Hitched Too
Wedding Order of Service 2011
Following on from the invite design for my sister’s wedding shindig in Shoreditch, this A5 piece presented the main events of the evening, as well as housing the song lyrics for the service on the reverse.
Hitched
Wedding Invite 2011
This design originated from the bride & groom’s desire to have an old style boxing poster design on the invite to their wedding in London’s East End. This distressed red and blue typography design gave their big day a theme that ran through the relevant printed artwork from the table numbers, the seating plan, and the order of service. Hopefully it added something to what was an incredible evening in many different ways.
All the very best to Luce & Kit as they head back to their San Franciscan adventures!
World Cup Heroes Collection
World Cup Heroes Postcards 2010
After a doodle of gnarled bunion Wayne Rooney proved popular in the office, I created a set of seven ‘World Cup Heroes’ postcards to coincide with the huge anticipation of the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. The postcards were released in stages into Boomerang postcard racks in cinemas, health clubs and universities across the UK. It turns out that my careful selection process was blown out of the water as none of these ‘heroes’ performed to their true potential during the tournament. Then again, it would have been a pretty strange set of pre-tournament cards that consisted of Diego Forlan, Thomas Müller, Asamoah Gyan and Paul the Psychic Octopus.
Meet Colin: The unlikely hero
My Colon Says 2010
Branding for a Twitter site that promotes the benefits of looking after your inner tubes. This happy chap originated from one of the strangest design requests I have received to date. A friend asked me to create an icon for the Twitter page ‘my colon says…’. The result was my first ever illustration of an anthropomorphised arse-tube, wearing a hat that simultaneously resembled a bum and a turd. Introducing Colin the Colon - the cheery face of healthy bowel movements.
Down with the kids
Youth Planners Brochure 2010
This A5 landscape foldout brochure is one of a series of promotional pieces for Boomerang Media’s various advertising environments in 2010. This one highlights the benefits of targeting a youth audience via advertising spots in Boomerang’s student planners. As well as coming up with the folding concept (creating two different pages within the same diary image) and carrying out the design work, I also created a Youth Planners branded envelope for it to be posted in.
Boom Box
Boom Box Media Brochure 2010
This A5 landscape brochure is one of a series of promotional pieces for Boomerang Media’s various advertising environments in 2010. This one highlights the benefits of advertising in schools via a ‘Boom Box’ - a cardboard dispenser that can hold postcards, badges and other relevant media.
As well as guiding the creative direction and carrying out the design work (including major image manipulation), I also created custom vector ‘doodles’, which now form the basis of the Boom Box media branding.
